Welcome!
You are
embarking on the most important role a parent can ever undertake during
overwhelming times. We are here to support you and will help you during this
journey. Let us be a strong, prayerful community, united by the love of God.
Suggestions:
It might be
helpful to begin with a review of the Sign of the Cross and remind your child
of the Trinity. Other prayers to review:
Our Father, Hail Mary, and the Glory Be.
The Grace
Before Meals prayer can be led by parents but when your child knows it by
heart, he/she will enjoy the honor of leading the prayer with their family. You
may want a copy of this prayer posted in plain sight so that your child can
readily see the words (perhaps on the frig or wherever is doable for your
family).
You may wish
to hold off memorizing the Apostles’ Creed until next month. Pray the prayer
together. When your child is ready to memorize the prayer, post it, and perhaps
highlight a section at a time to be memorized.
Activities
for Grade 3:
Starting on
page 16, we found these pages to be age-appropriate: 16, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23,
24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 39.
If you
choose to do 29-31, you may wish to take your child to Our Lady’s Shrine in
Manorville for your nature walk. If you choose to complete pages 40-41, we suggest
choosing a limited amount of vocabulary words for your child.
Opening the Bible!
Throughout
the program, you are asked to look up specific verses in the bible. If you do
not own a bible yet, you can look up these verses online.
Thinking
Ahead: Catholic Christmas Gifts!
You may wish
to think ahead for Christmas gifts that would help your child understand and
love the Lord. There are many Catholic online order companies that have
age-appropriate gift ideas. Ascension Press, and The Catholic Company are at
least two notable ones to view.
Music!
Please check out the song, “Watching You” by Rodney Atkins online. We found it to be inspirational and motivating, hopefully you will too!
